To me, pregnancy was an unexpectedly fleeting season. On one hand, in the moment, it can seem like time is moving so slowly. And then on the other hand, nine months have flown by and your little one has arrived. As a Richmond maternity photographer, I love capturing maternity photos because it's a season that doesn't happen often, and one that you can't go back in time and relive. These photos may be the last ones where it's just you and your partner, or you and your family before it grows by two more tiny feet. Maternity portraits can often be overlooked - maybe you've been feeling really tired, overwhelmed by the never-ending list of to-do's before your baby arrives, or you're just not feeling your best. But looking back, this season of growing your baby will be one you'll want to remember.
I know how busy this season can be, which is why I've designed my Richmond maternity photographer sessions to take care of all the details - from start to finish. With these sessions, you'll receive support throughout the entire process, from planning your family's outfits and choosing the perfect location, to guiding you through natural poses at your session, and lastly printing your photos to decorate your home or designing custom photo albums so you can experience these sweet memories over and over again.
My Richmond maternity photographer sessions can be done outdoors at one of the many beautiful locations in the Richmond, Virginia area, or in your home. You can choose to include your whole family, or enjoy the session with just yourself. These sessions can also be combined with a newborn photography session and/or milestone session (such as a 6-month sitter session or one year birthday session) to document your baby's first year of life. This season with your baby will only happen once in a lifetime, and I'm here to help you preserve it every step of the way.

I recommend reaching out as early as you feel comfortable. Some moms will reach out as soon as they get the news, while others wait a little longer. It's best to reach out 1-2 months in advance of your desired session date for a greater choice in available dates.
I'll typically meet with families when mom is 28-32 weeks pregnant. It's early enough in the third trimester to where most moms still have energy, while being late enough in pregnancy for your baby bump to show in photos.
Yes! We can do baby announcement photos or gender reveals photos to share your news with family and friends! These sessions are typically earlier in pregnancy than traditional maternity sessions.
Absolutely! These maternity sessions would include some solo shots of just mom, and the remainder would be similar to a family session with a special focus on the pregnancy.
Yes! I have several favorite brands and local boutiques that offer beautiful, quality bump-friendly dresses. I'll also help with styling your family around your dress choice!
Of course! Richmond, VA has some of the best photography locations for maternity sessions. We'll work together to choose a location that aligns with your vision for the session, whether that's a garden, a field, on a property with European-inspired architecture, or somewhere else.
Yes! Film photography adds a soft, nostalgic feel to photos, which is beautiful for maternity portraits. With using film, we just need plenty of natural light. As a hybrid digital and film photographer, I also edit my digital photos to emulate film. This combination works great in settings where there isn't enough light, or when we need the speed of a faster camera to keep up with young children.
