As a family photographer, I’m always searching for the best locations for family photos that have beautiful scenery and light. And in the fall, this means that sought-after fall foliage. Here are the three locations my families choose time and time again for their Richmond fall family photos.

Top Locations in Richmond for Fall Family Photos

Maymont Park

Tried and true, Maymont Park is a beautiful family photoshoot location year-round and one of the best locations for Richmond fall family photos. Maymont Park features changing foliage among their classic architecture, which photographs beautifully and timelessly. In the fall, the Maymont Park is open at the ideal time for that warm, glowy golden hour light that is sought after by families. For families that want even more variety in their backdrops, there are also magnolia trees and hedges that stay green year-round. There is a parking lot onsite and plenty of additional street parking, making this a perfect location for families. Given that there is often a lot of foot traffic at Maymont Park, the best time for family photos is mornings or weekday evenings.

This is the best location for Richmond fall family photos if you want those classic photos with plenty of colorful leaves. It’s also dog-friendly, so you can include your whole family in your fall family photos. This park photographs beautifully in the mornings and evenings, and there is street parking nearby.
