Crump Park

If you’re looking for a charming location with rolling hills, farmland, and a historic farmhouse, Crump Park is the location for you. This location is so beautiful year-round, but especially in the fall. There’s plenty of space for young kids to run around and play during the session, and there’s a playground and walking paths for a family activity afterwards. There’s also a parking lot, making it a seamless location choice for families. As a family photographer, this is one of my favorite Glen Allen family session locations.

Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens

Located in Henrico County just outside of Short Pump and Glen Allen, Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens is a popular choice for families wanting a family session with a garden backdrop. There’s always something in bloom at Lewis Ginter, but my favorite times of year to visit are late spring through early fall. In addition to the beautiful flowers, there is also a pond, gazebo, and of course the greenhouse which makes for a stunning backdrop for family photos. Families love that there is a parking lot onsite and plenty of space for their kids to explore during their photo session.

Maymont

Maymont Park is another favorite location, located just outside of Short Pump and Glen Allen. It offers the most variety for a family photo session, from the flower-filled Italian Gardens, to the bridge and waterfall at the Japanese Gardens, to the ornate gazebos, green spaces, and mansion. Families love the balance of the beauty and convenience of Maymont. It has a parking lot and plentiful street parking nearby. Many of my families love planning activities for after their session, and at Maymont, there’s plenty of space for a picnic, visiting the farm animals, or heading to a playground or restaurant nearby.
