3 Reasons to Book a Richmond Fall Mini Session

August 25, 2025

When was the last time you had family portraits? Do you find it challenging to fit a family photography session into your already busy schedule? A fall mini session may be the perfect fit for your family’s needs. These sessions are much shorter than a full-length session at just 15-minutes long, which is great for busy families gearing up for the holiday season. Here are three reasons to book a Richmond fall mini session this year.

Document family changes year after year.

Mini sessions are a great opportunity to quickly document your family over the years. If you have young children, there are so many changes that happen each year. Whether they’re growing a few inches, losing their first few teeth, or becoming much closer to their siblings, these are likely moments that you’ll want to capture professionally, print for your home, and hold on to for years.

Take care of your holiday card photos early.

When your family has a fall mini session, it’s the perfect timeframe to then use the photos for holiday cards. Holiday cards are a simple way to let your friends and family know you’re thinking of them and wishing them well during the holiday season. At my fall mini sessions, I typically begin with those photos that families love for holiday cards, where everyone is smiling at the camera. Then, we’ll move into other gentle poses and prompts (that are also holiday card-worthy).

Create updated portraits for your home.

What photos are currently framed on the walls in your home or on your tables and shelves? How long ago were they taken? I know how challenging it can be to find the time to print your family photos, and I’m here to help you check it off of your to-do list. After your fall mini session, you’ll gain access to the online Print Shop, where you can select from a variety of quality, archival prints to showcase your updated family portraits in your home.

This year’s fall mini sessions will be held on Sunday, October 26 at Forest Hill Park in Richmond, Virginia. There’s limited availability, and spots are likely to fill up quickly. If you’re interested in a Richmond fall mini session, now is the time to reserve your spot.
