You’ve heard it before: babies don’t keep. A newborn photography session can thoughtfully capture all those tiny details of your baby in the early days, as well as some of the first few moments of you bonding with your baby as a family. As a Chesterfield newborn photographer, I work with families to create a photography session that meets their vision, documenting the key moments they dream of holding on to. Here are my 5 must-have photos for your newborn session.

Top 5 Photos for Your Session with a Chesterfield Newborn Photographer

Whole family together

I always start my lifestyle newborn sessions with a classic photo of the whole family. This is likely the first professional photo you’ll have as a whole family with your newborn. It might even be the first photo with your hair and make-up styled, wearing something other than loungewear. It’s so special to have family photos from those early days. It’s beautiful, timeless, and something you’ll treasure for a lifetime.

Mom and baby

Moms are often the one taking photos of daily life, and it’s so easy for time to pass by without photos of just mom and her baby. In my newborn sessions, time is dedicated for photos of mom and baby together. We’ll get photos of mom smiling, and photos of mom soaking up the time with her baby – singing, snuggling, or however else moments unfold.

Dad and baby

Photos of dad and baby often show the early moments of dad bonding with his baby. Imagine baby resting against dad’s chest, or their tiny fingers wrapped around his hand. Similar to photos with just mom and baby, we’ll get photos of dad smiling, and photos of dad taking in the experience with his baby using gentle prompts.

Baby alone

Even during a lifestyle newborn session, we’ll capture moments of baby on their own. We’ll follow baby’s lead and use timeless props and gentle posing to ensure these photos are highlighting your baby as they truly are. These photos are soft, sweet, and sure to draw you back in time with a smile when viewed years later.

Baby details

The tiny fingers and toes, the slope of their nose, their rolls, their hair. The details you’ll want to hold on to forever. Newborns grow so quickly, so I take special care in documenting as many details as we can.

Documenting Milestones with Your Chesterfield Newborn Photographer

The newborn stage is a fleeting season, but so is the first year of your baby’s life. Your baby will reach so many milestones in their first year, and it’s so special to have those moments documented. I love walking with families throughout the first year, documenting those sweet babies at their 6-month sitter session, and later at their one-year birthday session. Think of photos showing your baby sitting on their own, smashing their first birthday cake, and maybe even taking some of their first steps while holding your hand.

A baby’s personality really blossoms throughout that first year, and it is so sweet to capture their personality in a playful and fun photography session. For families interested in documenting these moments, I offer a milestone membership. So that we can preserve those sweet moments throughout the first year that you’ll want to hold on to – but can’t turn back time to relive.

Preserving Your Photos with Your Chesterfield Newborn Photographer

Your newborn photos are meant to be viewed regularly, not just stored on your phone and shared on social media. I know how it feels to have photos taken, and then have another task of printing those photos. And not to mention, you want those printed photos to turn out beautifully – preserving the color just how it was meant to look. With all of my sessions, you’ll gain access to my print store, which features a collection of curated artwork pieces, from fine art printed photos to heirloom photo albums and custom-framed photos. That way, you can print your photos with confidence, in whichever way best aligns with your vision.
